Hi Ivan,

I have found the exact same problem under OSX and Windoes XP,
I am guessing there is a problem with systems configure with languages with special characters.
To fix this problem you need to disable the check for plugins updates at start-up in the Protege preferences.
I add the image below.

Hopes this helps you.

Thank you Isai.

This error prevent the download of any plug in.
It would be better delete the entry that cause the  problem from the plug in list.
Do you kow if it  possible?

Hi,
I have the same problem in Win server 2008 R2 x64 and in Solaris 10 x86. First I thought it would depend on the Snorocket Reasoner and installed the newest Plugin, but it did not solve the problem.

Hi Ivan,

To solve this issue you can create a custom file with the locations of the repositories in which Protégé will check for plugin updates.

Here is the repositories file I made:
Plugins-Repo.txt

To change it simple go to Preferences -> Plugins
and change the location to the file I attached as shown below.

This solution was tested under OS X 10.9 and works fine, for Windows you will have to test by removing repositories locations from the file since there is a url that crashes Protégé under Windows and I wasn't able to detect it. (I work on Mac)

Hope this works for you,

Hi Axel,

For Windows I Created the following repository file
Plugins-Repo.txt

The process in Windows is the same as in Mac
Preferences -> Plugins and you add the file location as shown below

I tested this solution under Windows XP and worked perfectly.

Hopes this helps,

Hi Isai,
good work - it runs fine in windows too. What theme are you working on? Perhaps we could interchange. I tumble around
with MAS SCM optimization in Jade.
Best regards

I am resending the text of Ivan's original message/bug report (below),
which for some reason never posted to the list.

The exception is thrown due to an invalid version number in the
Snorocket Classifier plug-in's auto update properties file.  Protege
didn't have sufficient error handling in place for this scenario, which
causes the auto update process to hang.  We filed an issue for this in
our bug tracker:

https://github.com/protegeproject/protege/issues/18

We checked in a fix, which will be available in the next build.  I don't
have an exact date for the new build, but we're working on it.
