error loading OWL from URL

Devi-3
Hi,

1. How To Import RDF file into Protege?

2.As illustration, I have library database 1GB which comprising article and book concerning computer sciences, later;then I wish to develop;build Semantic Web, but I wish to make Ontology beforehand for knowledge base. That question is:
**** what step which must be done beforehand is till formed by Ontology is till got by Semantic Search Engine Like Swoogle?
****do data capacities 1GB in participating in making of Ontology or separated?

3. I try to make new project in protege 3.1.1, to loading ontology with marked Create Existing Source from of   http://www.biopax.org/release/biopax-level1.owl which there are at and choose OWL-FULL profile language, but I find Error looks like:

Protege and database support!

eduard barbu
Hi all,

My problem is as follows:

1. I have written an aplication for manipulating an ontology using the Jena API. All was fine but at a moment turned that we need to save the KB -ases in a database using HSQLDB as a backend.
2. Theoretically should not be a problem, because as you know Jena has also database support. However on the web there exists only one driver for Jena/Hsqldb (MIT's simile repository) but when I run the jena junit tests for this driver it failed a lot of tests. There are to possibilities:
a. One: To modify the driver for working with Jena (but I am not a database guy)
b. To switch to protege ontology API.
For that I want to know what is Protege database support. Was it tested with HSQLDB. It is based on or independent from Jena API?

Best Regards!
Eduard

Configuring protege for storing ontologies in a database!

eduard barbu

Hi all,

Is there a some documentation about how to configure Protege to work with a database? I also hope that someone will answer my previous post about HSQLDB and Protege!

Thanks and best Regards!

Dear Eduard,
maybe relevant,
got it to work for mysql but then a (confirmed) error in protege orccured. Recently I asked for status on this one.

Ok Michel,

Thanks ... I see that they fixed the problem. However, I am much more interested on the Protege API for accessing databases and how it is it dependent from Jena! See My previous posts!

Regards!
Eduard

Re: error loading OWL from URL

In reply to this post by Devi-3
Devi,

1. You can import RDF in (to a certain extent) by selecting New
Project->from existing sources
2.a sorry I don't understand your question
2.b 1GB sounds like a lot of data - this would be you instances right?
You should definitely not add these to the ontology - keep them in a
form you can use (a DB) and use the ontology to query them.
3. An http 407 error is authentication error on your company's web proxy
- check the archives [1] for discussions about this

Eduard,

The Protege database backend is independent of Jena, however ProtegeOWL
does provide an interface to a jena model [1] that might allow you
access to rdf triplestores. HSQLDB compatability? I'm afraid I don't
know - it might be worth posting on the protege-discussion list to ask
about this.
